To the Proud Parents/Guardians of a UMS Student:

Welcome to the 2019-2020 school year! I am anticipating a highly productive year and look forward to working with you and your child as we continue to strive for success at United Middle School where “Excellence is the Expectation.”  This will be done through hands –on- activities, lectures, videos, tests, quizzes and projects. Throughout the academic year, we will be covering the four STAAR Math Reporting Categories.  These can be found in detail at the Texas Educational Agency athttp://www.tea.state.tx.us/.

Materials: Aside from the materials outlined in the district supply list, the following will be needed for Math class:

• 1 inch binder with 3 tabs
• 1 pocket folder
• 2 packages of #2 pencils
• 1 pack of ruled paper
• 1 tissue box
• Post-its 
• Highlighters

Homework: Homework will be assigned daily Monday-Thursday or at my discretion.

Assessments: Students will receive a minimum of 4 weekly test grades per marking period. 

Grading Policy:  As per the District’s policy, late assignments will be penalized up to three (3) instructional days at 10 points per day.

Tardies and absences:  Tardies and absences will be taken seriously as per school and district policy.

                                      4 TARDIES = 1 UNEXCUSED ABSENCE
