Magnet Applications for 2019-2020 School Year

APPLICATIONS FOR THE 2019-2020 SCHOOL YEAR ARE NOW BEING ACCEPTED FROM CURRENT EIGHTH GRADERS FOR ENTRANCE INTO U.I.S.D. MAGNET SCHOOLS FOR THE 2019-2020 SCHOOL YEAR!

  • AHS – Magnet for Health and Science
  • UHS – Magnet for Engineering and Technology
  • USHS – Magnet of Global Business and Advanced Technology

The deadline for submitting applications is January 23, 2019. Applications are available at the counselor’s office of all U.I.S.D. middle schools and high schools.

CRITERIA

  • Reside in the U.I.S.D. boundaries (with proof of enrollment).
  • Incoming 9th grader for the 2019–2020 school year.
  • Composite grade average of B (80%) for (math, science, language arts, reading, Mand social studies) (based on January 2019 report card in the 8th grade and the final report card in the 7th grade).
  • Score within the appropriate range on the Cognitive Abilities Test (CogAT) – based on the ranking of all applicants.  A Magnet Parent Night presentation will be available to all interested parents and students on January 16, 2019, at the United ISD Student Activity Center at 6 pm.

MANDATORY TESTING DATES

Each applicant must complete the mandatory assessment on one of the following dates (no exceptions).

Sign in starts at 8:30 a.m./Test starts promptly at 9:00 a.m.

Friday Lunch detention will start next week on October 26th. 4 tardies = 1 Lunch detention (no outside food on Fridays will be allowed).
