Message from the Principal

Dear Parents,

I would like to thank you for your continued support of your children and our school!  Our Rudy’s fundraiser closed on October 17th and I am hopeful that we will have raised enough money to support our many campus initiatives and student activities.  A HUGE “THANK YOU” to all of you who participated.

As we reach the end of the 2nd six weeks, we continue to see progress in student achievement.  We have once again set the expectations high this school year and our students are working hard to meet our campus goals!

One of our most crucial goals has been to increase attendance this year from 97% last year to 98%.  We are definitely on the right track as we have achieved a 98.19% attendance for the 1st six weeks! That is truly outstanding and we would like to thank you for bringing your child to school every day!

Our  tutorials and MARC Homework Help Center began in October and will continue through November 16th.   I continue to stress the importance of your  children taking advantage of these  opportunities if they have received an invitation.  Our goal for students attending these sessions is to close achievement gaps from last year’s STAAR assessments in Reading and Math as well as CBAs.  If you are unsure about whether or not your child is required to attend, please call our Academic Coordinator, Mrs. Roxanne Villagomez at  473-7339.

In summary, as I reflect on the many things for which I am thankful for, I would like to thank our students who come to school every day as they remind us daily of why we are here.  I am thankful for our UMS  parents and your support in creating an outstanding partnership for our students.  Finally, I am thankful for my teachers, staff and administrators who truly care about student achievement and have the best interest of our UMS students at HEART!
